ideas for internet based film

I am media student in the outskirts of London, and i am currently researching for a film i am producing based on the Internet. The film looks at the different people that use it and how they use it, e.g. people that use internet porn. I had the first idea of making into a fictional documentary but I have sort of gone off of that idea, so whoever is reading this, if you have any ideas on how I can do it i will be very much obliged. Thanks a lot, from a fellow a film maker.

Depends what you want to 'say' with the film.
The reason porn comes up again and again is because its one of the most successful industries in the world, and the internet is an excellent method of communication. But its infinitley more than a thing for exchanging porn.

Its a tool, that can be used for good or bad. So are you planning a non-fiction documentary?

Hi wageslave, well my initial idea was to do make a fictional documentary, but i am just looking for other intial ideas on how, i can look at portraying what the internet is about and what different people use it for. POrn was just an example, but i also want to look at how teenagers use it to find friends and partners, maybe the characters that pretend they are someone else on the Net and computer whizz kids that create sites and make lots of money on the net, e.com business. So if you have any ideas then I will be very much appeciative, cheers mate.

How about using a chat room as the main base of the film? That is to say have all of the characters that you mentioned above all on the chat room and you introduce their story via what they are saying on the chat room. It'd be cool to keepm the charatcers name's as the handles they use on the chat room. Just an idea, might be cack, I don't know.

why not? could be a kind of detective story, as peoples lives and deceits begin to surface.
Some people are honest, and their username reflects themselves somehow, some people are simply pretending to be what they arent. You would certainly get a feel for 'why and how' people use the internet.
Different questions arise, different people want different things, some people are simply bored and have nothing else to do, some people want answers to specific questions, some people want to 'talk' to like minded people, some people want to rant and rage, some people dont know what they want, some people are lonely. All sorts. All those people connected through keyboards, rather than voices, none of the conversations are real....? or are they?
In that they are kept electronically on a hard disk on the main server, possibly forever, whereas 'normal' conversation occurs naturally and is blown away by the wind, only to be recalled by anothers (perhaps fallible) memory. Maybe on that note someone admits to a murder. Did they do it or are they bragging? And if they did they cant retract the statement- Unless they wreck the server and smash up the Hard Drive. but then there is so much bullshit typed onto the internet who'd beleive it anyway?
